No one really knows. To me he always seems to be the embodiment of people’s doubts, personal insecurities, and fears of the unknown since those seem to be the overarching themes of season 4.
Yeah, that has been the jist of the darkness we’ve seen so far this season and he did say that he was basically created from those fears that cause darkness and twisted thoughts in people’s hearts. It’s certainly an interesting origin to have for this season since insecurities are such a natural part of being human and so that’s why he seems to see it as inevitable that everything should lead to this moment I guess.
Not gonna lie, i haven’t watched this season in years and completely forgot that darkness said that. My assertion was based on my loose memories of the duel as well jadens philosophy as an adult stems from his more foolhardy teenage philosiphy even if he doesn’t want to acknowledge this. Even at his most pessimistic, Jadens viewpoints are in complete contrast to that of darkness; the creation of bonds is also inevitable, and that through conflict, struggle, and competition, human connection (no matter how painful) is made and this network ultimately leads to personal growth.
